Yusuf Dikec, a 51-year-old Turkish shooter, has taken social media by storm for his relaxed and confident approach during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Dikec and his teammate Sevval Ilayda Tarhan won the silver medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol event on July 30, marking Turkey’s first Olympic shooting medal.

A viral photo captures Dikec with one hand in his pocket, wearing a T-shirt and regular glasses, looking unbothered. This casual look earned him comparisons to an everyday person competing in the Olympics.

Other shooters, like South Korea’s Kim Yeji, who also won silver in the 10m air pistol, were seen with specialized equipment. Dikec, however, explained, “I shoot with both eyes open, unlike most who use one eye. It makes me more comfortable.”

Despite his relaxed appearance, Dikec is a seasoned Olympian, competing since 2008. He aims for gold at the next Olympics in Los Angeles. “I hope to win a gold medal next time,” he shared.
