Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan made history at the Paris 2024 Olympics by breaking a 16-year-old Olympic record in the men’s javelin final, winning the gold medal. Nadeem’s stunning second throw of 92.97 meters set a new benchmark in the event, marking Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in Olympic athletics.

Despite his final throw of 91.79 meters being slightly shorter, Nadeem’s consistent performance, with two throws over 90 meters, ensured his place at the top of the podium. The 27-year-old’s victory is a proud moment for Pakistan and a significant achievement in the world of javelin.

India’s Neeraj Chopra, the reigning champion, secured the silver medal with his best throw of the season at 89.45 meters. The men’s javelin event was particularly noteworthy this year, as both the gold and silver medals were won by Asian athletes, breaking the traditional stronghold of European and American athletes.

Anderson Peters of Grenada took home the bronze medal with a throw of 88.54 meters.
