Team GB delivered a spectacular performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, securing five golds among ten medals on an unforgettable Saturday. The action-packed day was highlighted by three Para-swimming golds within 40 minutes, with Stephen Clegg, William Ellard, and Alice Tai all taking the top spot on the podium. Clegg and Ellard both set new world records in their respective events.
Amy Truesdale and Matt Bush added to the golden haul in Para-taekwondo, with Truesdale avoiding disqualification after a dramatic final to claim the women’s K44 +65kg title, and Bush securing gold in the men’s K44 +80kg category. Their victories brought Team GB’s total medal count to 25, including 11 golds.
In other events, Poppy Maskill and Louise Fiddes earned silver and bronze in the women’s S14 200m freestyle, while Archie Atkinson took silver in the men’s C4 4,000m individual pursuit despite a late fall. Meanwhile, Jodie Grinham secured bronze in Para-archery, and table tennis players Paul Karabardak and Billy Shilton added another bronze in the men’s doubles MD14.
