Midfielder Wang Haijian, newly selected for the Chinese national team, shared his thoughts on facing Japan in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. In an interview with Chinese media, Wang acknowledged Japan as a formidable opponent but expressed hope that strategic preparation would lead to a satisfactory result.

“Japan is a strong team, but we’ve undergone extensive training and tactical planning. With the team’s collective effort, we aim to achieve a result that will make everyone proud,” Wang said. The Chinese squad has been focusing on set-pieces and tactical drills during their training camp in Dalian, hoping to make the most of every opportunity.

“Our overall strength may be weaker, but set-pieces like throw-ins and free-kicks are crucial. It’s one of the best ways for us to narrow the gap between us and Japan,” Wang emphasized.

Speaking about his first call-up to the national team, Wang admitted he felt both excited and proud. “It’s the highest honor for any player. I hope to contribute in the upcoming two matches,” he said.
