Germany emerged victorious in the mixed triathlon relay at the Paris 2024 Olympics, capturing the gold medal with a time of 1:25:39. The race was decided by mere seconds, with the USA and the UK both finishing at 1:25:40, leading to a photo finish to determine the silver and bronze medalists.
Initially, the UK was announced as the silver medalist, but after a closer look, officials awarded the silver to the USA, pushing the UK to third place. The race was held under challenging conditions, as heavy rains had previously affected the water quality of the Seine River, causing swim practice sessions to be canceled for two days. However, the race went on as planned after the water quality improved.
Belgium’s team had to pull out of the relay after their athlete, Michelle, became ill following the women’s triathlon.
