Hong Kong’s top tennis player, Coleman Wong, came up short in the semifinals of the ATP Shanghai Challenger on Saturday, losing in straight sets to Japan’s Sho Shimabukuro. Ranked 149th in the world, Coleman had previously defeated Egor Gerasimov, Ryan Peniston, and Beibit Zhukayev to reach the final four.

However, against the 239th-ranked Shimabukuro, Coleman struggled early on. He dropped his serve in the opening stages of the first set and fell behind 1-3. After being broken again in the 9th game, he lost the first set 3-6.

The second set saw Coleman make adjustments and engage in a more competitive battle. Both players pushed the set to a tiebreaker, but Coleman lost 6-7 (2-7), ending his run in the tournament.
